It is less than 10 miles from Kansas City, Missouri and a six-hour drive from Dallas. As the birthplace of Ginger Rogers and Margaret Truman, Independence also serves as the county seat and spans over 78 square miles with a resident population of about 120,000. Average temperatures within the city range from the high 80’s in the summertime to the high 20’s in the winter. Local commuter access and travel is facilitated by adjacent highway 24.
